Dr. Khaira was born in India and spent his childhood growing up in California's central valley. He graduated from Ross University Medical School in Dominica, and completed his internship year of residency at Metro Health Medical Center, a Case Western Reserve affiliated program in Cleveland, Ohio. After his first snow-filled winter, Dr. Khaira left Cleveland for the warmer climate of Loma Linda, CA. After completing his residency training in 2003 at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Southern California, he moved to the Bay Area and began his private practice career in Alameda.
Dr. Khaira has been in private practice in Alameda since 2003. He originally partnered with two other local physicians and enjoyed the internal medicine practice they built over the course of 11 years together. Since starting out on his own in 2014, Dr. Khaira has had the opportunity to expand his practice into Oakland, Berkeley, Emeryville, San Leandro and the surrounding East Bay communities.
Dr. Khaira is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and in Hospice & Palliative Care. He is on the staff at Alta Bates, Summit Medical Center and Alameda Hospital. He is also a Medical Director at Pathways Hospice, a non-profit agency committed to helping patients live out their remaining days in comfort and dignity. He is an avid sports fan and when he is not practicing medicine, he enjoys football trivia, playing soccer with his kids, and watching Warriors basketball.
